  • NZAM has 18 years of continuous and outstanding track record where our investment strategy has been able to produce double digit annualised returns. These returns have been achieved with substantially less risk than those displayed by global equity markets.
  • NZAM has applied the same consistent and disciplined investment strategy since the business was established in 1991.

Investment Philosophy

  • NZAM’s overall objective is to achieve positive annual returns regardless of the direction of markets. This is referred to as an “absolute return” philosophy.
  • As an investment manager we recognise that our first priority must be to preserve clients’ capital regardless of the direction of markets.
  • Our second priority is to then make as large a return as possible provided we meet our first priority of capital preservation.
  • As an absolute return manager our primary benchmark objective should be to significantly outperform the gross 90 day bank bill rate on a longer-term time frame as we believe that this the alternative “safe” investment option for clients.

Investment Strategy

  • We utilise the skills of fund managers who invest with this same absolute return philosophy.
  • We believe that it is important to use fund managers who are domiciled in the markets that they invest in.
  • We choose to invest in the skills of individual fund managers rather than trying to generate returns from selecting specific markets.
  • We place a high importance on fund managers that have a substantial amount of their own capital invested alongside their clients.

Investment Offerings

  • For many of our clients we are managing most or all of their wealth. Their objectives are to protect and grow their wealth over a long-term time horizon.
  • Many clients choose not to take an income stream from their investment.
  • For those clients who require a regular income stream from their capital, we are able to invest a portion of their capital into fixed interest investments.
  • An income stream can be paid monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly.

Stability of the Management Team

  • All the Directors of NZAM are involved in the day-to-day running of the business on a fulltime basis.
  • The four Principals Greg Jones, Alan McChesney, Simon Tompkins and Richard Riddell have been involved in the business since 1991, 1995, 1997 and 1999 respectively.
  • Senior staff retention is very high.
