Andrew is a Co-Chairman of LJ Partnership. Andrew is responsible for LJ Partnership’s real estate investment strategies and oversees all the Group’s real estate investments, directly or through the various platforms. Andrew is Chairman of the Investment Committee for Real Estate Investments and a Board member of Queensgate Investments, Osprey Equity Partners, Cresco (Germany), Hadley Property Group, Kronos (Spain) and Whitebridge Hospitality. Prior to setting up LJ, Andrew was Managing Director of Cushman and Wakefield Residential and Chairman of Cushman and Wakefield Hospitality for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, having transacted on over £8 billion of acquisitions. Andrew has worked in New Zealand, Australia, Asia, the Middle East and Europe and has concluded private and public equity, corporate finance, and property transactions in over 30 countries during the last 25 years.
Elliot is a Partner and Chief Financial Officer of LJ Partnership with 20 years’ experience in finance with a background in both practice and industry. Having graduated from university with BA (Hons) in Economics, Elliot spent the first eight years of his career in practice, before taking a director position (2003-2009) as head of finance in a real estate business. This led to a similar role within a blue-chip global company (Cushman and Wakefield) following acquisition, before leaving to help found LJ. Prior to this, Elliot also provided financial management services to Salamanca Capital Investments, a privately owned group of investment management and advisory companies.
Chief Executive Officer Brett oversees and leads the Tailorspace team responsible for investment and asset management strategy and the overall operations of the group. He has an extensive background in private equity and corporate finance, having grown businesses in both ownership and executive roles. Brett is a director on Tailorspace owed business, Southbase Construction, Mike Greer Homes, LJ Partnership (NZ) and New Zealand Assets Management. Brett is also Chairman of Enable Networks Limited and the Chalky Carr Trust.
Jonathan has more than 30 years’ experience in the financial sector, with an emphasis on emerging markets. Before joining NZAM in December 2014, Jonathan was Fonterra Co-operative Group’s Chief Financial Officer.
He joined Fonterra in 2009 from US-based chemicals company Cabot Corporation where he was Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer.
Prior to this he was employed as the Chief Financial Officer at forest products company Carter Holt Harvey and also served in senior financial management positions at US based International Paper.
He is a director of Air NZ, Vector Limited, Westpac New Zealand and Zespri and an adjunct professor of management at the University of Auckland.
Our Executive Team
Joining NZAM in 1997 as Executive Director and Principal, Simon is the Chief Financial Officer. His role includes responsibility for the financial management and reporting of NZAM. He has enjoyed nearly three decades in the finance industry, initially working in an accounting role and followed by 12 years investment banking for Fay Richwhite before shifting into his investment management role at NZAM.
Simon has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Canterbury. Simon and his wife Bridget live in Auckland where they raised their three children, Juliet, Oliver and Guy. In his spare time, Simon enjoys indulging his passions for flying, skiing and cycling.
Alan joined NZAM as a Principal and Director in 1995 after his previous role as a Senior Executive of Fay Richwhite & Co, one of New Zealand’s leading Merchant Banks. Alan has 25 years of financial markets experience, and has been involved in manager research since joining the company. Alan has a business degree from Auckland University.
Alan is involved with wine, the visual arts and is a keen photographer. He is a Patron of The Auckland City Art Gallery and is Deputy Chair of The Auckland Art Gallery Foundation. He also enjoys road and mountain cycling, is a keen skier, fly fisherman and golfer. He has two children, Tessa and Hugo.
Mei joined NZAM as Head of Compliance in December 2016. She has extensive experience in banking and finance, tax and compliance having worked at Clifford Chance, Hong Kong and London and, prior to that, at Bell Gully, Wellington. Most recently, she managed a wine importing and wholesale business in New York, introducing New Zealand wines to New York palates.
Mei graduated from Victoria University with an LLB/BCA in accounting and finance.
James Caughey has worked with NZAM since 2008, in a variety of roles that have given him a deep understanding of the funds management business. Since 2011 he has worked as part of the research team, taking on a greater degree of responsibility over time, including strategic asset allocation and international travel to research and monitor managers. In July 2017 he was responsible for the launch of NZAM’s Global Absolute Return Equity strategy, and was appointed Head of Research in September 2017.
James holds a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Finance (University of Auckland) and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours First Class) majoring in Classics/Ancient History. James earned the CAIA charter in 2016, a specialist qualification for Alternative Investments. In addition, he has completed Level 1 of the CFA programme.
Dyrol joined NZAM in 2001. He is responsible for marketing NZAM’s services and managing client relationships. Dyrol has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Auckland. Prior to joining NZAM, Dyrol practiced as a qualified physiotherapist.
Dyrol is married to Serena and they have two sons, Ben and Harry. He spends much of his spare time on the side of the soccer field in winter and the cricket field in summer. Dyrol is also a keen swimmer and competes in a number of ocean swims during summer.
Brad joined NZAM in 2005 and is Head of Operations. His responsibilities are wide-ranging and include the running of the PIE Funds, trade executions, system development and client report checking and publishing. Prior to joining NZAM, he was a business analyst for Tower Portfolio Administration Services.
Brad is a born-and-bred Aucklander and has a B Com (Economics) from the University of Auckland. He has previously worked in a variety of banking roles in the financial district in London, before returning to Auckland. He is married with three children.
Michelle rejoined NZAM in March 2010 as Senior Research Analyst after returning from six years overseas, having previously worked for NZAM from 2001 to 2004. She spent the majority of her time overseas working in London for BNP Paribas and Russell Investments as a Performance Analyst.
Michelle graduated from University of Auckland with a BA/BCom majoring in Statistics and Finance. She has a Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM) from the CFA Institute and has passed the Level 3 exam in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) programme.
Pippa Styles is Office Accountant for NZAM. She has over 20 years’ experience in accounting including four years working in the UK for Lazard Brothers and Co, Telephone Technology Ltd and Swashpump Technologies. She was also previously a member of the London Stock Exchange.
She holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Auckland.
Pippa has three children and has been heavily involved in family-orientated organisations including Auckland East Plunket, Mission Bay Kindergarten and Saint Kentigern School and College Parents and Friends.
In the past few years, Pippa helped raise $45,000 for GICI, the Gastro Intestinal Cancer Institute, to support a clinical research trial.
Christine joined NZAM in 2006 and is a senior administrator for the investment team. Her duties include executing trades to fund managers, as well as managing foreign exchange and forward contract transactions.
Prior to joining NZAM, Christine worked in a number of banking roles, including six years at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand and stints at Countrywide Bank, Trustbank Auckland and Westpac Trust. Originally from Wellington, she holds a Certificate in Business Studies.
Originally from Nepal, Ayesha joined NZAM as Office & Marketing Manager in August 2018.
She holds a Bachelor of Business, and has over 7 years of experience in strategic public relations, event management and the marketing best practices, including digital, content marketing, email marketing and marketing automation. Three main reasons she loves marketing: people, technology and creativity.
In her spare time she enjoys sailing, singing, cooking and is always keen for an adventure.
Andy is a consultant at NZAM. Joining in 2011, he had 25 years banking experience with Westpac Bank and the Lloyds Bank Group. Andy has significant expertise in financial and capital markets having held the positions of General Manager – Europe and Americas for Westpac; Joint Treasurer for Lloyds Bank, Australia; and Head of Wealth for Westpac in New Zealand.
Andy has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Canterbury. He lives in Auckland and has four children Sam, Sophie, Nicky and Tama.
